App for Outlook showing dashboard instead of record actions
Issue
When using Outlook and attempting to track an email against a Dynamics record, the Dynamics App icon is showing a Dynamics Dashboard instead of the options to track the email against a record.
When you press the button you should get a Dynamics panel to setup the tracking for the email, as in the image to the left.
What the user actually got, was the default dashboard from Dynamics.
Resolution
It became apparent that the users in question had lost access to a specific dashboard that was used by the App for Outlook to handle the display of the App panel.
Editing the Security Roles for the App For Outlook dashboard had inadvertently removed access for the users who were using the app and in the App for Outlook group. As soon as we added the security roles for the users to the dashboard, the functionality was restored.
