Power Automate Not Licensed?

"The user 'xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxx' does not have a service plan adequate for the non-Standard connection 'Microsoft Dataverse'."

The above error was recently displayed on a clients Dynamics365 + Power Automate environment for any flow that contained a Dataverse action

Applies to:

  • PowerAutomate online with Dataverse Connector

Troubleshooting

While troubleshooting, we noted that

  • There was NO user in the system with the GUID that was being identified

  • The user I was logged in as, was an administrator in the Dynamics365 and Office environments

  • The user had a Dynamics365 Customer Service Enterprise License assigned

  • Flows worked for non premium connectors

Microsoft’s help link provided in the error message refers to their licensing pages and essentially states that the user needs a license for premium connections.

This error means a Power Automate license is required for the current user to do the action (a Power Apps, Dynamics 365, or Office 365 license isn't sufficient).

Users who are shared a flow with premium connectors (not belonging to a Per Flow plan) will each need a Per User plan to edit or manually trigger the flow.

There is also a note in the licensing documentation that the Power Automate flow needs to be triggered “in context” of the Dynamics365 App and

Resolution

In this case, the root cause of the issue, was that the user had, at some point, been relieved of some critical apps.

Navigate to the Microsoft 365 environment administration center and select your user (the owner of the Power Automate Flow)

Select the Licenses tab and scroll down to the Apps at the bottom. Expand this list.

Scroll down and ensure that POWER AUTOMATE is Checked.

Note; it may take a few minutes for the new app licensing to be applied, however, once this is done you should be able to access the Dataverse connections without issue.
